To the business person, the word "technology"
has become virtually synonymous with the word "computer." It is no accident
that the Internet has become known as the "information highway." Technology
in the business environment is almost exclusively used to store, process,
calculate, format and deliver "information," ---in quantity, quality, and
speed, which fifteen years ago was available only to giant governmental
agencies and Fortune 500 corporations. The advent of the relatively
inexpensive PC and all of the peripheral technology associated with it has
placed "information technology" in its most sophisticated forms in the hands
of the small business person.

There is a not so subtle irony to this absolute transformation of the small
business environment. Government and huge corporations, with almost
limitless resources, could not utilize information technology without large
departments of highly trained specialists dedicated exclusively to its
management. The CEO's of large corporations could not be found at night
"tinkering" with their mainframes. Instead, technology with comparable
capabilities is often used, operated and maintained by persons whose
training and primary responsibilities are unrelated and whose time might be
better spent doing other things, like selling, producing products, providing
services, or even running the company. That is where we think that we can
help!
McGill, Power, Bell & Associates, LLP has been a pioneer in the application
of computer technology to financial and management information systems and
business solutions since the 1970's. We were certainly one of the first
firms in Northwestern Pennsylvania to acquire IBM mini-computers, and use
them to provide accounting and data processing services to our clients. We
are the only firm that we know of in our market area to program its own
proprietary accounting software and to develop some of the most
sophisticated job costing software for tool and die shops available anywhere
in the United States.
We started the transition to PC's shortly after IBM introduced them, and we
have continued to apply the most recent advances in PC-based computer
technology to our own internal operations. It is this internal familiarity
with information technology and our many years of providing service to our
clients using it, that qualifies us to help you in many different ways.
